SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed - Controls

SpeedRunners 2 King of Speed Controls Guide

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed keeps its controls deliberately simple because the real challenge is what you do with momentum. You can run, jump, wall jump, slide, grapple, boost and fire pickups, but combining those actions smoothly is what separates a clean lap from disappearing behind the camera.

The default controls below cover PlayStation, Xbox and PC. SpeedRunners 2 also supports full controller remapping, so you can change the layout if slide, grapple or boost does not feel natural on the standard setup.

How Jumping Works

Jump is the foundation of nearly every route. It clears gaps, avoids hazards and lets you start wall jumps when you reach a vertical surface.

The important part is not pressing jump as often as possible. A clean jump keeps your existing speed and lands you exactly where the next part of the route begins.

Wall jumping

Jump again while contacting a suitable wall to push away from it. Wall jumping becomes essential on vertical sections and can save a race when you miss the ideal route.

How to Slide

Use Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox or the Down Arrow on the default keyboard layout.

Sliding lets your runner pass underneath low hazards and narrow openings without giving up as much momentum as stopping or changing route.

Try to enter the slide just before the obstacle rather than holding it much earlier than necessary.

How the Grappling Hook Works

Press Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox or X on keyboard to grapple.

Normal grappling is designed around the blue ceiling surfaces found throughout each course. Once attached, your runner swings beneath the grapple point.

The most important part is the release. Let go while your movement is carrying you forward and you can convert the swing into extra horizontal speed.

Do not grapple every blue surface

A grapple is useful only when its arc improves your route. Sometimes staying on the ground is faster than taking a dramatic swing.

How Boost Works

Press R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox or Space on keyboard to spend boost meter and accelerate.

Boost is strongest when you already have a clean line ahead of you. Using it immediately before a wall, sharp turn or awkward jump can actually make the next obstacle harder.

Keep some boost for emergencies

If the camera begins pulling away from you, a small reserve of boost can be the difference between recovering and being eliminated.

How to Use Pickups

Press Circle on PlayStation, B on Xbox or C on keyboard to activate your held pickup.

Pickups include offensive and disruptive tools that can ruin another runner's route, slow the leader or create an opening for you to recover.

Do not use an item simply because you picked it up. Wait until another runner is positioned where the effect will actually matter.

What Is the Golden Grappling Hook?

The Golden Grappling Hook is an offensive pickup rather than your normal movement grapple.

It can pull a runner who is ahead of you backward and is especially dangerous when used near hazards, difficult jumps or the rear edge of the camera.

D Pad or Left Stick?

Both can be used for movement on controller.

The Left Stick feels natural and comfortable, while the D Pad gives very clean digital left and right inputs. Players who accidentally change direction or drift during precise platforming sections may prefer the D Pad.

Try both before changing anything else in the control settings.

Can You Remap the Controls?

Yes. SpeedRunners 2 supports extensive controller remapping.

This is particularly useful if you want grapple and slide closer together or if you prefer boost on a different shoulder input.

Change your bindings early rather than switching repeatedly after muscle memory has already developed.

Learn Jump, Slide and Grapple Before Everything Else

Items can win spectacular moments, but consistent movement wins far more races. Practice jumping without losing speed, sliding through obstacles at the last useful moment and releasing grapple swings in the direction you actually want to travel.

Once those three actions feel automatic, boost and pickups become tools for improving an already fast route instead of emergency buttons used to repair mistakes.
