eFootball 2027 keeps the familiar console layout, but the current version adds more depth to dribbling, defending and first time finishing. If you already know the basic pass, shoot and sprint buttons, the biggest things to learn are Finesse Dribble, Sharp Touch, Match up, Stunning commands and the new Dynamic Volley.
The controls below use the standard PlayStation and Xbox layouts for the current eFootball 2027 season. Some commands can behave differently if Smart Assist is enabled, so competitive players may prefer to learn the manual inputs.

How Finesse Dribble Works
Hold L2 on PlayStation or LT on Xbox while using the Left Stick. Your player takes smaller, more controlled touches and tries to keep a useful body position against the defender.
Finesse Dribble is strongest when you are close enough to tempt a defender into committing. It is not meant to replace normal running with the ball.
Use it to change rhythm
Approach at normal speed, slow down with Finesse Dribble and then accelerate away once the defender moves. The change of pace is usually more useful than holding L2 for several seconds.
How Sharp Touch Works
Push the Left Stick in the direction you want to accelerate and quickly tap R2 twice on PlayStation or RT twice on Xbox.
Sharp Touch knocks the ball farther ahead and lets quick players attack open grass. It is particularly useful when the defender is flat footed or when you have already created space with a feint.
Avoid using it directly into a crowded penalty area because the larger touch makes the ball easier to steal.
How to Perform a Stunning Shot
Press R2 fully with Square on PlayStation or RT fully with X on Xbox.
A Stunning Shot produces a more powerful strike but has a longer preparation animation. Use it when your attacker has clear space rather than when a defender is already close enough to block.
What Is the New Dynamic Volley?
Dynamic Volley is one of the notable additions to the current season. When the ball is airborne, enter the Stunning Shot command and an appropriately positioned player can attack it with a powerful volley.
The ball does not need to be at traditional volley height. The game can choose an appropriate airborne finishing animation based on the incoming ball and the player's position.
Do not force it on every cross
Dynamic Volley works best when the receiver has enough time and body position to attack the delivery. If the ball is awkward or the defender is already challenging, a normal finish may be safer.
How to Defend Properly with Match up
Hold L2 or LT and move with the Left Stick to use Match up.
Match up keeps your defender oriented toward the attacker and is useful for closing passing lanes without diving into a tackle.
The current gameplay has improved defensive movement while backpedaling, so Match up is particularly useful when protecting the space directly in front of your box.
Do not hold Pressure constantly
Pressure is useful when you are close enough to challenge, but blindly holding it can pull a defender out of shape. Track the attacker first, then pressure when the touch becomes loose.
Shoulder Charge or Sliding Tackle?
Square or X performs a Shoulder Charge when the opponent is dribbling. Circle or B performs a Sliding Tackle.
A Shoulder Charge is generally the safer physical option when running beside an opponent. Sliding Tackles carry much greater foul risk and should be saved for moments when you have a clear line to the ball.
How to Manually Switch Defenders
Flick the Right Stick toward the teammate you want to control.
Manual switching is one of the most important skills in online matches because L1 or LB may not always choose the defender you actually need.
Use the Right Stick when tracking runners away from the ball, especially against quick counter attacks.
How Super Cancel Works
Press R1 + R2 on PlayStation or RB + RT on Xbox.
Super Cancel breaks your player away from certain automatic movement and lets you take manual control of positioning.
It can help when attacking loose balls, moving away from a marked receiving position or adjusting your run while defending a cross.
Smart Assist and Manual Controls
Smart Assist can simplify actions such as dribbling direction, passing choices and shot power. It is useful for new players who want to learn positioning before mastering every manual command.
If you want more direct control over passing, shooting and movement, turn Smart Assist off and learn the standard commands instead.
