The Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown control layout and button mapping for PlayStation and Xbox controllers are explained below. The game includes two main flight styles: Standard, which turns the aircraft left and right more easily, and Expert, which uses roll and pitch for more realistic aircraft control.

Standard vs Expert Controls
Standard controls are recommended for new players because moving the left stick sideways turns the aircraft directly. Expert controls are closer to classic Ace Combat handling: sideways movement rolls the aircraft, and you turn by combining roll with pitch. Expert feels harder at first, but it gives better control once learned.
- Standard: easier turning, better for beginners.
- Expert: roll-based control, better for advanced flying.
- Pitch Controls: can be set to Normal or reversed.
- Camera Movement: can be adjusted from the controller settings.
- Acceleration / Yaw Controls: can be changed between Type A and Type B.
- Radar Map / Switch Weapons: can also be changed between control types.
Flight Stick Notes
Ace Combat 7 also supports flight stick layouts on compatible platforms. With a flight stick, pitch, roll, yaw, throttle, camera, weapons, target switching, flares, radar display and view changes are mapped across the stick and throttle base. Exact button placement depends on the supported flight stick model.
