Stellaris Controls

The Stellaris control layout and button mapping for PlayStation, Xbox and PC controllers are explained below. Stellaris: Console Edition adapts the grand strategy interface for controller play, letting you manage resources, menus, alerts, camera movement, map view and game speed without needing a mouse and keyboard.

Control Notes

  • Move Camera and Rotate Camera are used constantly for navigating systems, planets and the galaxy map.
  • Play / Pause is one of the most important commands, especially during wars, colonization, first contact events and economy management.
  • Resources, Empire Management, Alerts and Outliner are quick-access shortcuts for the main management panels.
  • Tab Left and Tab Right help move between menus without backing out repeatedly.
  • Toggle Map switches map display behavior and is useful when navigating large empires.
  • Change Game Speed lets you slow down, pause or speed up time depending on how much micromanagement is needed.
